More Space, More CARE: A Peek Inside Our New Clinic
There’s something special about walking into a space that feels like it fits — calm, intentional, and grounded, yet also creative and playful. Over the past few months (well almost a year), we’ve been working behind the scenes to make our new clinic space just that — a place that feels like home for us, and a place that feels safe and welcoming for you.
We spent time thinking about every detail — from layout and lighting to textures and colours — all with the goal of creating an environment where people of all ages can feel comfortable. This move has been a big step for us — not just in square footage, but also in what it represents. For the first time, we’ve been able to shape a space that really reflects who we are and how we work — something that feels like it’s built for the kind of care we offer.
And for those of you who visited our previous office — yes, it’s true, we’re no longer tucked away inside a business centre that felt more like a law office than a therapy clinic (because, well… it was). The lawyers were great landlords, but there’s something especially nice about walking into a space designed for therapy.
We’re pleased to share this new space with our colleagues at Bloom Narratives; we spent many hours working together to purposefully create this amazing space where our practices can work alongside one another. While each practice remains independent, we share a few key areas — including the reception and waiting area, group therapy room, and therapy room #4 — and we’ve created a setting that feels cohesive, supportive, and welcoming to all.
We know that visiting a new space can bring up big feelings — especially for kids and teens, but even for adults too. So we’ve put together this photo tour to help you get familiar with the space before your visit. Whether you're coming for therapy, assessment, or a group, we hope this gives you a sense of what to expect.
Welcome In: The Reception Area
When you arrive, you’ll be welcomed into a calm and cozy shared reception area. This is where we take off our shoes, grab a drink (coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice boxes, or water), and take a moment to settle in. There’s no formal check-in — your psychologist will meet you here and walk with you into the therapy room.
This front space was designed to feel grounding and peaceful, with soft tones and natural textures. Inside our CARE offices, you’ll notice brighter accents — like pops of our signature colours and even new rainbow pillows — that reflect the heart of our practice.
Hallway: The Path Between Rooms
The hallway connects each part of the clinic and was designed to feel open and quiet. We intentionally picked art work and décor that could allow for a calming walk into our therapy rooms. These gentle transitions matter.
You’ll also notice the new solid wood doors, chosen for both comfort and privacy. We spent many hours deciding on these doors and are so happy with the results! You will also notice the original barn wood wall we kept from the yoga studio that previously occupied this space. That wall now lives on in Therapy Room 4, the group room, and Bloom’s Office 3 — a meaningful piece of the past that adds warmth and character to those spaces.
CARE Rooms 1 and 5: Flexible Spaces for All Ages
These two CARE rooms can support a wide range of therapy approaches for people of all ages. Each includes a dedicated area for play therapy as well as a comfortable seating area for counselling and conversation (but also art and games too!)
These therapy rooms were designed to allow space for movement, creativity, and reflection — whether it’s a child engaging through play, a teen working through expressive art, or an adult in EMDR therapy. These rooms are designed to adapt to the needs of the people who use them.
Also — the toys. So many toys.
Many of our toys live inside the white cabinets. It took weeks of sorting, organizing, and figuring out how to duplicate everything for a second play space. We replaced some old favourites, got two of almost everything, and spent more time than we’d like to admit organizing and getting sand off of everything. It was a bit chaotic at times, but absolutely worth it.
These rooms now reflect the creativity and flexibility we value in our work with kids, teens, and adults alike.
Room 4: A Shared Space for Teens, Adults, & Assessments
Room 4 is a calm, quiet space used by both CARE Psychology and Bloom Narratives.
It’s ideal for teen and adult counselling, parent consultation, and psychological assessments.
It includes one of our favourite visual features — the original barn wood wall from the yoga studio. It gives the room a grounded, welcoming feel that many clients comment on.
Group Therapy Room: For Connection and Community
Our group therapy room is also shared and is one of the most versatile parts of the clinic. It allows us to offer family therapy, parent sessions, and group therapy for children, teens, and adults — all in a bright, flexible environment that fosters connection. The same reclaimed barn wood wall adds character and continuity here too.
A Word About Soundproofing...
One thing we were determined to get right in this new space? Soundproofing. We took extra care to make sure the clinic felt private and protected. That included extra insulation, double drywall, sound-dampening ceiling tiles, and extra panes of glass in our interior windows.
Our doors are fully sealed for sound — so well, in fact, that they were a little tough to close at first! (Most have settled in, but it still makes us smile and sometimes still requires a bit of a hip check). Compared to our previous location, the difference is incredible — and we’re so glad we made the investment in comfort and care.
This space used to be a yoga studio — but now, it’s something more. It’s a clinic designed for healing, growth, and meaningful connection. Every rainbow pillow, painting, plant, solid wood door, sound dampening ceiling tile, and fuzzy blanket reflects the thought we’ve put into making this a place where people can feel safe, supported, and at home, allowing a path and place for healing.
We’re so grateful to be here — and even more grateful to continue walking alongside the individuals and families we serve.
Please join us on May 10, 2025 for our grand opening for a tour to see our space yourself!
Kind Regards,
Dr. Crystal
