Deepening Family Connection & Dynamics

PARENTS & FAMILIES

Empowering Connections

Families are complex - And, sometimes, even with the best intentions, things can feel disconnected or tense. If you are struggling to communicate, support your child, or simply want to feel more in sync at home, you're not alone. Family therapy can help you navigate tough dynamics, strengthen relationships, and build a more connected, functional home environment.

Individual Counselling & Therapy

We will apply appropriate psychological theories and approaches that are tailored to your needs and specific goals.

Play or Expressive Therapy

Sometimes it can be difficult for children to fully express themselves through words. Play therapy can help your child to share their perspective, feelings, and emotions to transform their world.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative therapy approach that is based on the understandings of the brain and how memory networks function. EMDR therapy can help you heal from past family trauma, and allow you to move forward. As a parent, it can also be incredibly valuable to address emotional and psychological challenges that come with the role.

Family Counselling & Therapy

Family therapy aims to help your family work together through any challenges you may be facing.

Group Counselling & Therapy

Group counselling and therapy may be offered throughout the year to address a variety of topics and concerns. Sessions may include: Emotion regulation, mindfulness, social skills, anxiety, adaptive coping skills, stress management, healthy relationships, and more.

Parent Consultation & Support

Consultation is available for you as a parent or caregiver who would benefit from support and recommendations on how to best help the child in your life. Consultation support may be done through in-person or virtual meetings.

FAQ

  • Support that helps you navigate complex roles - Whether you are parenting a child with big emotions, facing family conflict, or juggling personal stress - We are here to support you too.

  • Caregivers, parents, and families looking for strategies, clarity, or emotional support.

  • We offer individual and family therapy, as well as parenting support. Both parents are welcome to attend a parent session, however the session is focused on the child dynamic and not on the couple. We do not offer couples therapy.

  • The first session of family counselling and therapy services would involve an initial intake session where we would discuss your concerns further and gather historical information that is relevant to your family's treatment. This session is for parents/caregivers only when the family counselling involves younger children, but typically involves the entire family for older children, teenagers, or adult children. We will discuss our recommendations around who in the family would be included in this initial intake session during our free 15-20 minute consultation. It is important that children and teens feel comfortable with the family counselling process and have interest in attending the sessions.

For family counselling, the first 3 family sessions are typically 80-90 minutes with ongoing sessions either 50-60 minutes or 80-90 minutes.
