Psychological & Psychoeducational Assessment
Understand. Educate. Support. Strengthen.
Psychological Assessment
The goal of a psychological assessment is to better understand an individual’s strengths and current areas of struggle. Assessments can help provide clarity around concerns related to attention, learning, emotional regulation, behaviour, anxiety, development, ADHD, autism, and mental health.
A psychological assessment gathers information through a variety of methods including interviews, standardized testing, rating scales, and observations. While the assessment process may help clarify whether a diagnosis may be present, more importantly, it provides a pathway toward understanding, practical recommendations, and a plan for intervention to help each individual succeed at home, school, work, and in daily life.
Psychological & Psycho-Educational Assessments:
-
A mental health assessment gathers information to better understand an individual’s emotional, behavioural, social, and psychological functioning. These assessments can help provide clarity around concerns such as anxiety, emotional regulation, mood, behaviour, trauma, attention, coping, and overall mental health.
Mental health assessments may include intake interviews, interviews with the individual and caregivers, standardized questionnaires, consultations with important individuals in their lives, behavioural observations, and review of relevant history. The assessment process results in a comprehensive report outlining findings, recommendations, and practical next steps to support functioning and well-being at home, school, work, and in daily life.
-
An ADHD assessment gathers information to better understand an individual’s attention, executive functioning, learning, emotional regulation, behavioural, and overall social-emotional functioning. Assessments can help provide clarity around concerns related to focus, impulsivity, organization, emotional regulation, school or work functioning, and daily life skills.
An ADHD assessment may be completed on its own or as part of a broader mental health or psychoeducational assessment. The assessment process may include intake interviews, interviews with the individual and caregivers, standardized questionnaires, behavioural observations, consultations with important individuals in their lives, and review of relevant history. The process results in a comprehensive report including findings, recommendations, and practical next steps to support success at home, school, work, and in daily life.
-
A psychoeducational assessment gathers information to better understand an individual’s cognitive, academic, learning, attention, social-emotional, and behavioural functioning. These assessments can help provide clarity around concerns related to learning difficulties, attention, memory, processing, academic achievement, emotional regulation, school functioning, and overall development.
Psychoeducational assessments involve intake interviews, standardized testing, questionnaires, consultations with important individuals in the individual’s life, behavioural observations, and review of relevant history. The assessment process results in a comprehensive report outlining findings, recommendations, and practical next steps to support success at school, home, work, and in daily life.
-
An autism assessment helps to better understand an individual’s social communication, behavioural, sensory, emotional, and developmental profile. Autism assessments can help provide clarity around concerns related to social interaction, communication, emotional regulation, sensory differences, routines, flexibility, attention, behaviour, and overall functioning across environments.
Autism assessments are often completed as part of a broader psychoeducational assessment. However, if there are no concerns related to learning or academic functioning, the academic portion may be omitted. The assessment process may include intake interviews, standardized testing, autism-specific questionnaires and assessments, behavioural observations, consultations with important individuals in the person’s life, review of developmental history, and a comprehensive final report. Recommendations are tailored to support the individual’s strengths and needs across home, school, work, and community settings.
