Transforming Some of The Toughest Years For Youth
REMEMBER THIS AGE?
Let’s Make It Easier On Our Youth
As children grow into teens, everything shifts - Including how they communicate, cope, and connect. That is why therapy needs to evolve with them. At CARE Psychology, our first priority is building trust with your teen so they feel seen, heard, and supported through this often overwhelming stage of life.
Depending on their needs, treatment may include talk therapy, EMDR, or creative approaches like art, sand tray, drama, or movement - Whatever helps them express what words can not always capture.
Your Teen Deserves the Tools to Thrive
Individual Counselling & Therapy
As each youth differs, we will apply appropriate psychological theories and approaches that are tailored to your teen and their specific goals for therapy.
Play or Expressive Therapy
Sometimes it can be difficult for teens to fully express themselves through words. Therapy doesn’t have to be all talk - It can be fun, exploratory, and creative for teens. Play or Expressive therapy can help your teen to share their perspective, feelings, and emotions through creativity, artistry, games, or play to transform their world.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative therapy approach that’s based on the understandings of the brain and how memory networks function. EMDR therapy can help your teen heal from their past trauma, and allow them to move forward.
Family Counselling & Therapy
Sometimes, the best way to support your teen is to engage in family or parent-child counselling. Family therapy aims to help your family work together through any challenges you may be facing.
Group Counselling & Therapy
Group counselling and therapy may be offered throughout the year to address a variety of topics and concerns. Group therapy can support: Emotion regulation, mindfulness, social skills, anxiety, adaptive coping skills, stress management, healthy relationships, and more. This can be a really powerful way for youth to connect, engage, and heal.
Psychological Assessment
A psychological or psycho-educational assessment provides information to develop a better understanding of your teens’s strengths, needs, and areas for growth. Through this process, appropriate recommendations and strategies are provided so that you can capitalize on your teen’s strengths, help them grow, and inform intervention.

At the first session of counselling and therapy services for teenagers, parents would be invited into the session with your teen for the first 10-15 minutes. We will review consent and discuss with you and your child, what remains confidential and what will be shared with parents. We will then have one-on-one time with your teen to start building a relationship and help them to feel safe and comfortable. During the following sessions, we will meet individually with your teen. It is important that teens feel comfortable with the counselling process and have interest in attending the sessions.
Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes for individual therapy.
